Most bloggers come to that time when they realize they have to be more aggressive in recruiting readers and getting their numbers up. That’s when many bloggers start doing Google searches for ‘how to grow their blog’ or ‘ways to get more readers’. The Google results are unlimited on this subject. Here are some tips for those bloggers who are ready to take it to the next level.

Alexa BlogAlexa and your Blog
There are several determining factors that companies use to determine the value of a blog. One of those factors is the Alexa Ranking. The Aexa number for most blogs begins in the millions and begins to shrink until it finally gets in the 100,000 range. It continues to get smaller as the blog grows and gains more readers.

What is Alexa?

Alexa is simply a system by which blogs and websites are ranked according to the amount of traffic that comes to those blogs on a regular basis. You must download a toolbar (IE) or install the extension (Chrome) in order to have your Alexa number affected. The downside of Alexa is that it only measures the traffic that comes from computers that have the Alexa toolbar or extension installed. Some companies devalue the Alexa number because it does not give a clear indicator of all traffic- just traffic that comes from computers with the toolbar or extension installed. Even though Alexa is not the ultimate determining factor of the worth of a blog, it is still an important factor. Any blogger who is serious about growing their blog should install the Alexa toolbar or extension on chrome or Firefox.

The downside of Alexa

Bloggers who have been watching their Alexa score for a long period of time know that they often begin to base the value of their blog on the Alexa toolbar number. We all have to remember that we are more than our Alexa number! The number will change daily and fluctuate regularly. As long as you are still seeing long term growth, you can relax and know that your blog is good - even if your number is not what you are wanting it to be.

How can you make your Alexa Number smaller?

The number one way to make your Alexa number smaller is to make sure you are writing quality, original posts that people want to visit. The number will get lower as your blog grows. It is also helpful to join other like minded bloggers who can help support your blog by visiting and promoting your hard work. There is no magic way to get to the magic Alexa number you are aiming for. It takes time, hard work and supportive readers. Ways non-bloggers can help If you are a not a blogger but you have a favorite blog that you want to support, why not download the toolbar so your visit will help your favorite blogger's Alexa number go down. Your visit to the blog will cast a vote of support for the blogs you visit! Do you follow your Alexa number? Have you got any tips for building your blog? We'd love to hear!   (athometake2.com)
